The IHRA Principle
The Party is founded on the principles of Integrity, Honesty, Respect and Accountability (IHRA) and these principles will be the basis for assessing the policies of the ACT Government.
The aim of seeking representation in the ACT Legislative Assembly will be to provide good governance for the citizens of the ACT. This will be enabled by reviewing Government policy and also by introducing policies that provide greater road safety and fairer social and financial outcomes for motorists and citizens in general.
The Australian Motorist Party represents all road users, including heavy vehicles, motorcycles, taxis, public transport etc. The Party policy may also represent pedestrians, cyclists and the general public where motoring policy shares a common interest with these sectors. As a broad policy objective, the Australian Motorist Party will work to ensure that a more just and representative proportion of budgetary income derived from the motoring sector is allocated to the safety and welfare of the motoring citizens.
The primary areas of policy are included in the following categories:
Safety
Youth and young driver policy and issues. Training, education and targeting of attitudes and behaviour.
Motoring and the law
Territory Revenue
Public Transport
Costs of Motoring – government and non government
General issues of concern in the Territory
Recreational motoring
Pedestrian and cyclist issues
Fuel taxes
Alternative fuels and associated incentives
Road infrastructure and efficient use of budget and grants allocation
